The Black Queens of Ghana have lifted the maiden WAFU Zone B Women's cup after a hard-fought battle in the finals against the host Ivory Coast.
A first-half strike by Jane Egyir positioned the Queens ahead in the competition as they revenged for their first match defeat, eventually lifting the trophy by winning 1-0.
Egyir calmly converted from a close range and despite the pressure from the Ivorians fans, the Queens remained resilient at the back to claim their victory.
The victory of Black Queens on Saturday, 25th February, 2018 has made the Head Coach Mercy Tagoe to become the first female coach to win a trophy with the Black Queens after taking the position for two months.
Mercy Tagoe was appointed as the interim manager following the resignation from Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
She will be hoping to replicate same as Ghana awaits to host the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in November this year.
