Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central Hon. Ebenezer Nartey has cued Ghana Education Service (GES) to penalize any parent who refuses to pay the PTA dues of his or her ward.
Speaking at the Graduation ceremony at Newman Memorial Academy in Accra, Hon. Nartey said that it is not the responsibility of the child to pay for his or her own fees therefore parents should face the law if they fail to recompense since it is their duty.
“Beating a student in school or sacking them to cross streets for not being able to pay PTA dues is unwise but rather, call their guardians and inform them about the penalties associated.” He said
“Is it good to beat a student for owing a fee he [or she] doesn’t pay? If it is not, then I beg teachers to put a stop to it and get the contacts of the parents, call or write to them, then let them know their wards will be sacked if they refuse to pay." he reiterated.
Meanwhile, Hon. Nartey Ebenezer has advised parents to be a part of their children.
“Please, let us give much care about our child’s schooling, because they are the future leaders of our dear country.” He advised.
